Updates PSS Halftoning

November 24, 2008—Salt Lake City, UT—Wasatch Precision Stochastic Screens (PSS) have been powerful and fast, the standard method of screening in Wasatch SoftRIP for many years. As good as they are, they haven't been ideal for every printer, which is why we released a new "Error Diffusion" option last January. That works well, but lacks the speed of PSS.

PSS Update

We're pleased to announce the first major improvement to PSS in several years. This update combines the advantages of Error Diffusion with the full speed and other quality advantages of PSS. It even preserves color profiles, because all profiles made with earlier versions of PSS will continue to work accurately with this update.

This advance is now a standard part of Version 6.4 of Wasatch SoftRIP, and it is free to all users covered by current service agreements. It is included in the October 23 release of Version 6.4, and it is in effect as soon as that release is installed.
