Inkjet printers from companies such as Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Mimaki, and Roland, are able to output dots of different volumes at every point. These printers are able to output four different dots sizes, making prints look smoother, sharper, and "less grainy" than would be possible with fixed dot (on or off) halftoning.

Wasatch SoftRIP maximizes the benefit of these new printers with full support for variable dot halftoning, support that takes advantage of all the various combinations of variable dots and dilute inks offered with these devices.
