Contour Cut, Full Color Label Printing
"It's already paid for itself in time saved!"
Our traditional line of business is screen printing, but we also do some digital printing using a Roland® device. We knew that Wasatch Variable Data Printing would be a good thing for us as soon as we saw a demo. We upgraded our Roland® RIP to Wasatch SoftRIP® with the VDP Option in March, and it's already paid for itself in time saved. We use it for labels like sequentially numbered parking decals. It's so much faster than doing these jobs manually. We like being able to lay out other types of text and logos too. We already have a lot of ideas for other ways to use the Wasatch Variable Data technology to build our digital printing business.

Signage and Banners
"Now we save days of design time on each print run."
We've been using SoftRIP with our JETi and HP5000 for a little over a year. We were already creating customized signage for a major consumer-electronics retailer when we heard about the variable data printing option. Doing the customization by hand used to take a long time. Now we save days of design time on each print run. We can customize the signage for each of our customer's stores fast, and we're even using it internally for our own signage. Plus, the software works great. It's very easy to use and it imports Excel files perfectly. I used to use a Quark™ plugin to do VDP on an Indigo press. It was really complicated and took a lot more setup time. Wasatch VDP is easy to use right away and does everything I need it to do.

Labels, Signs and Banners
"The Wasatch solution is really easy to use."
We do banners, signs, and general print for pay work using a 92" DGI™, a Seiko ColorPainter™, and a 63" Summa™ cutter. A customer brought us a job that required digitally printed labels with variable data. We hadn't heard of any inkjet RIPs that did this sort of thing, but a quick web search led us to Wasatch VDP. The Wasatch solution is really easy to use—we didn't need any help to figure out what it does or how it works. We had an easy time completing that first job, and now we've found other jobs we used to do manually that would be faster and easier with Wasatch VDP.

Custom Apparel and Sports Jerseys
"It didn't take long to break even on our investment."
We make custom apparel using screen printing and dye sublimation. We've been using the VDP option with our Mimaki™ JV4 for dye sub sports jerseys—work previously done manually through our graphics application. Wasatch VDP is a ton easier and saves a lot of labor time. It didn't take long to break even on our investment. Now we're thinking about using the Variable Data Printing option for printing customized banners on our Seiko too.

Labels in a Traditional Label Printing Environment
" Now we have opened up a whole new revenue stream in short run labels."
We do digital printing of asset tracking labels for customers like libraries and government agencies. Typically we've done long run jobs using thermal transfer or our Gerber Edge® and we have a lot of experience using different variable data applications for these devices. The problem was that we didn't have a cost effective solution for full-color, shorter run jobs (1-1000 labels). We got a small-format Roland® printer and upgraded the Roland RIP to SoftRIP with the Variable Data Printing option. Now we have opened up a whole new revenue stream in short run labels. The Wasatch VDP option is every bit as powerful as the other variable data tools we used in the past; it even does barcodes! We're very happy with Wasatch.

Sports Jerseys and Team Apparel
"Wasatch VDP is just what I was looking for."
I'm getting a new business off the ground making customized sports jerseys and team apparel. As a small business, I knew I would need something that would make it fast and easy to layout different text and graphics on each jersey. Wasatch VDP is just what I was looking for!
