Ioline Smartrac Contour Series
October 7, 2008
The Ioline Smartrac Contour Series are cut only devices, and are only available if the
special registration code, "CUTTING", is enabled.
The Ioline Smartrac Contour Series is supported through the USB interface only.
Consult the cutter's user manual for information on setting the cutter's origin
point, force, and speed.
Initial Software and Cutter Setup
- Install the Ioline USB Drivers.
- Install the Ioline Control Center Software
- Connect the cutter to the USB port.
- Reboot the computer.
Connection: Choose the physical connection from the 'Print->Setup' window.
- USB: When you first plug an Ioline cutter into a USB port, you will be prompted for a USB driver. The driver is included on the Ioline installation CD. (It can also be downloaded from Ioline's website) A USB connection option will not appear in the "print/setup" window unless the Ioline cutter is connected with a USB cable and turned on.
SoftRIP Registration Mark Setup
Select the Ioline cutting registration mark in the Print Setup window.
Cutter Mark Detection Setup
The following steps should be used to setup the cutter for registration mark detection:
- Load the cutter from the back.
- Press the "Start/Stop" button on the cutter until the LED just above turns red.
- Use the arrow keys on the cutter to position the red sensor over the origin cutting registration mark. (TP1)
- Press the "Set Origin" button on the cutter. (the LED will turn green)
- Send the cut Job.
Loading the media:
- As the print comes off the printer, note the edge that is to the
lower right corner. This corner will be referred
to hereafter as the origin (TP1) of the print.
- Insert the media in the same direction as the media originally
came out of the printer. Since the cutter cannot cut any media
beyond the pinch roller nearest the control panel or the pinch
roller furthest from the control panel, align the media so that
the pinch rollers are outside of the cutting area.
- The cutter is now ready for the cut path to be sent from the Cutting
Queue. See the user manual for further assistance.
Note: The cutter's optical sensor should be initially calibrated at the factory. If cutting registration is off, calibrate using the Ioline Control Center Software.
Note: Early manufactured models of this cutter may contain a mainboard that is incompatible with SoftRIP and will require an upgrade from Ioline. If there are continuous connection difficulties, contact Ioline to determine if a mainboard upgrade is required.
