Spectrostar Spectrocam

The Setup is used to select the port for your device and calibrate your device.

The Calibrate button will begin the calibration sequence for the SpectroScan. Calibration is not necessary to begin reading values; however, the accuracy of these measurements can be greatly affected by a mis-calibrated device. When you click on calibrate, the following dialog will be displayed:

Make sure that the lens of the Spectrocam is directly over the white point reference, and click on the OK button. The window should then display: 'Calibration Complete'.

To proceed to the next step, click on the Next button to launch the following screen:

The Process Test Strips screen begins the strip reading process. To begin reading a strip, click on the button associated with the color you wish to read. Then follow the instructions presented in the message box directly below the Read Black Strip button. This interface is "hard-wired" to accept the 17 data points used in the file 'dtp32.ps' which is located in your 'X:\psfiles' folder (X: being the letter of the drive on which Wasatch SoftRIP was installed on). This is the only test pattern that will give you accurate results.

After you click on Read Strip the following message will be displayed:

After you press OK, the next message will appear.

After pressing OK, the Spectrocam will start buzzing. Slowly drag the Spectrocam over the measurement area until the lens has passed the last patch. At this point, the Spectrocam should stop buzzing. If the Spectrocam stops buzzing before it has reached the last patch, try moving it slower.

After the device stops buzzing, click OK to continue.

After the densitometer has returned the strip values, you will see the message 'Done'appear next to the color that you selected. After each strip has been read, the Next button will change to Finish. You may select Finish after reading any number of the four strips to apply curves from only colors that you have measured. Colors that you did not measure will not be overwritten should curves already exist.
