Hewlett-Packard DesignJet 2000/2500

and 3000/3500 CP

This plotter is supported in both its 300 and 600 dpi modes. The front panel buttons should be set for 'Color' and 'Best' quality.

Due to the high data-rates required for this device to run at full speed, particularly in 600 modes, it is very important that you use a connection that can handle these data rates.

Hewlett-Packard DesignJet Imaging Configurations

The Imaging Configurations for this printer series are interchangeable and can be used for the DesignJet 2000, 2500, 3000, or 3500 models.

Wasatch Authoring Software for Hewlett-Packard Varware

Production rates of over 30 and 40 square feet per hour are possible with Wasatch's support Hewlett-Packard Varware, an HP feature which makes higher-speed print modes available on the DesignJet 2000/2500/3000/3500 series.

All print modes on an inkjet are necessarily a compromise between quality, speed, drying time, and head reliability. Compromise among so many variables creates an enormous range of possibilities, far more than can be addressed with a collection of "pre-created" print modes. We are therefore pleased to offer the Wasatch Authoring Software for Hewlett-Packard Varware.

This software puts a significant range of choices in your hands. It provides you with access to a "reasonably safe" subset of the possible Varware modes, while taking care of complex issues such as "masking" and "swath advance" and providing clear warnings when you are exceeding HP recommended maximum speed settings. It provides a new control panel, allowing you to quickly set up the fasted modes possible on the printer, as well as slower modes that increase compatibility with slow-drying media.

The file 'varware.exe' is automatically placed in the directory where SoftRIP has been installed. Wasatch locates this file in X:\wwrip, where X: is the drive that SoftRIP was installed on. Simply double-click on the file 'varware.exe' to launch the control panel and you are ready to create you own Varware modes.

Varware Authoring Screen

Note: The resolution specified in a Varware print mode (either 300 dpi or 600 dpi) must match SoftRIP's printer resolution, i.e. 300 dpi selected on the printer control must then have 300 dpi selected in Varware. Otherwise SoftRIP will not recognize the Varware mode and will not use it when outputting files. (Figure #1 & #2)

A complete list of the Varware Print Modes you<'ve created will launchf when you select the Properties button next to the Printer Model window on the Imaging Configurations screen. (Figure #3)
