Wasatch Barcode "pull" WorkflowsWhen processing large numbers of small custom orders, every shop has the problem of ensuring that the right print gets put into the correct box for the right customer. This has to be foolproof and simple. For many processes other than direct-to-garment, a bar code can be printed in a margin, to be trimmed away later. Some customers use the Barcode Annotations feature of Wasatch SoftRIP to do this. Others add the barcode to their graphics in their own software, before it gets to Wasatch SoftRIP. For direct-to-garment, this cannot be done. The print really is the final product, so there is nothing that can be trimmed away. For this reason, an alternative barcode system exists in some shops. In this system, the operator standing in front of the printer has a job order in his hand, and that job order has a barcode on it. He scans the barcode, and that action causes the correct print to be produced. He then puts the order and the print into the same bin, and routing is assured, with no defacing of the product.
